Melbourne-based building company Zerni engaged Inkie Studio to create a visual identity, brochure and architectural book for a project nestled in the Noosa Hinterland. Branding for the project named ‘Whipbird’ was centred around a custom Inkie Font, while the hardcover book drew on the architectural design principles, surrounding landscape and bold visual identity of Whipbird to showcase the project, and be shared with prospective buyers and future clients of Zerni.
The book design pays homage to the integration of the bespoke materials used within the build, and how it melds into the stunning natural surrounds, highlighting the long linear lines and open connective spaces. The natural linen book cover was designed to match the sheer curtains that allow natural light to flow into the interiors, with the Whipbird logo blind letter-pressed to add to the subtle, tactile design. Internally, uncoated vellum stock with sectioned Colorplan coloured paper was employed to divide the book and promote the earthy, sustainable and high quality nature of the build.
For presentation, a clear acrylic sleeve was designed by Inkie Studio to emulate the multiple sky lights that are arguably the most identifiable aspect of the design, allowing for light to flow throughout the internal spaces. The Whipbird logo is etched into the clear acrylic, perfectly placed above the letter-pressed cover logo.
